Do you know what iOS is? If not then today’s article is going to be very informative for you. It simply means that it is an operating system just like Windows and Android in which devices run with Apple. Apple had created panic in the industry of SmartPhone by launching its first iPhone. But even bigger was the real game-changer iOS, it is the same software (Operating System) platform on which all Apple devices run today whether it is iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, iPod etc.
Where earlier Apple OS could not handle much other programs. So they were forced to create a new mobile operating system iOS, which currently works in almost all Apple devices, whether it is iPhone or iPad.
iOS forms a basis for Apple’s mobile platform, controlling all aspects of Apple’s hardware. This is the fact that Apple controls the entire iPhone ecosystem, which includes both hardware and software. This means that it offers a complete experience, in which users get the best performance in their hardware, as well as the software. A big benefit from this is that Apple can offer regular software updates in its devices, without any testing or approval from other manufacturers or mobile providers.
So, today I thought that why not share the details of iOS and its complete information about different Versions, so that you can get to know about iOS in detail. So without delay let’s start and know what is iOS.
What is iOS
iOS is Apple’s mobile operating system that runs iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices. Originally its name was iPhone OS, while later when the iPad was introduced, its name was also changed.
iOS utilizes a multi-touch interface that uses simple gestures to operate the device, such as swiping your finger across the screen to move the next page or pinch your fingers to zoom out. By the way, more than 2 million iOS apps are available in Apple’s App Store to download. Apart from this, Apple App Store is a very popular app store for apple device.
History of iOS
Steve Jobs first released a new operating system for the iPhone in 2007. He called it “iPhone runs on OS X”, although it was a different version of Mac OS. Their idea was that the iPhone should depend on web apps that behave like native apps.
In 2008, Apple renamed its OS and renamed it iPhone OS. Later in 2011, Apple re-branded it as iOS, to show that it is not only used for cell phones but for other mobile devices. Now the question arises, what is the full form of iOS then? i – represents the Apple line of products, and OS – represents the operating system.
